Escape Room - Jack the Ripper

Sunday Assembly LA has a long history of playing escape rooms! If you've never played before, escape rooms are like live board games where your team works together to solve puzzles, find secret passages and escape the room within 60 minutes. (Take it from a card-carrying claustrophobe, it's not scary. You're not actually locked in.)

This is for Jack the Ripper at Maze Rooms in Culver City.

Join Team Wonder More for a fun, challenging interactive experience. Please arrive 15 minutes early, at 7:10; they won't hold the room for us! We've already booked the room. To secure your spot, RSVP here and Paypal $33 (via friends and family) to amykboyle@gmail.com. If we book enough people to further discount the price, I will refund you the difference. I will consider your spot(s) reserved as soon as I receive your paypal!

We're also playing a room--the Dragon's Lair--just after this one at the same place. It's a lot of fun to book them back to back. Please RSVP and pay for that one separately. Each 1hr escape room experience is $33 (or less, depending on discounts).

If these sell out (they usually do) we'll start a B Team. Puzzles are kind of our jam.

Just a short walk southeast of the Runway shopping center, this park will let you unwind in the shade, savor the calm of the pond and play with the kids at the tot lot. After we let the kids expend some energy on the playground, we'll walk over to one of the many eateries for an engaging lunch with our SALA friends.

Parking is available at the Runway shopping center for $1 for the first hour, then $1 for each 15 minutes thereafter, but many eateries will validate our parking. See you there!

  • rsvped for The Sunday Assembly Gathering in Edinburgh Scotland 2018-02-09 15:06:08 -0800

    The Sunday Assembly Gathering

Join Assemblers from all around the world at the The Sunday Assembly Gathering in Edinburgh, Scotland!

    Gathering.png

Sunday Assembly is an international movement of wonder and good, with secular congregations bringing people together around the world to celebrate life, live better, help often and wonder more.

Most of this activity is centred on these congregations and the cities and towns in which they operate. Once a year we like to help as many people as possible from the Sunday Assembly community come together in one place to meet, share, learn, support each other and re-energise for the months ahead.

Following on from previous events in London, Atlanta, Utrecht and San Diego, our international event for 2018 will be in the glorious city of Edinburgh, Scotland’s capital. Our past events have gone under the title A Conference Called Wonder, this year we are calling it simply the The Sunday Assembly Gathering. We are making a space in particular for Sunday Assembly leaders, organisers and supporters to come together, share and support each other, while still having space and time for the distinctive Sunday Assembly cocktail of song, music, delight, energy and amazement.

That being said, all who wish to join us are welcome.

More info and tickets at Eventbrite

Tickets are £90 if bought in groups of 3 or more.

RSVP here to help coordinate with other SALAmanders heading to Scotland.

    Get Involved!

Volunteers are the foundation of Sunday Assembly Los Angeles; we believe we can do big things when we work together. Join us for service projects that maintain a high standard of pro-science, secular humanist values—improving the lives of people while protecting animals and the environment. Join your fellow assembly members for group activities here.

Submit a proposal for a talk, consider leading singalongs to well loved covers as a guest musical performance, or share a reading, a comic set or other creative work. Or join the Sunday Assembly Core volunteers who keep Assemblies running month after month.

SALA can't offer financial compensation for performers, but we love to support our artists! We film every Assembly and provide an edited multi-camera video for all on-stage guests. We are happy to sell CDs or books on behalf of that month's musician or speaker from our *merch table, we promote what you're up to to our community via social media, and we love to organize groups to come out to your future performances and events.

*At our current venue, the city does not permit sales so this practice is temporarily suspended. We're happy to help you sell at lunch afterwards!

    Our Mission

Sunday Assembly Los Angeles is a god-free community that meets monthly to hear great talks, connect for service projects, sing songs and generally celebrate life. Assemblies are free to attend, and everyone is welcome.

SALA is a chapter member of the American Humanist Association.

    Together, we will:

    • Live Better. We aim to provide inspiring, thought-provoking and practical ideas that help people to live the lives they want to lead and be the people they want to be.
    • Help Often. Assemblies are communities of action building lives of purpose, encouraging us all to help anyone who needs it to support each other. We take on service projects together because we believe helping makes life better.
    • Wonder More. Hearing talks, singing as one, listening to readings and even playing games helps us to connect with each other and the awesome world we live in.

    The Sunday Assembly

    1. Is 100% celebration of life. We are born from nothing and go to nothing. Let’s enjoy it together.
    2. Has no doctrine. We have no set texts so we can make use of wisdom from all sources.
    3. Has no deity. We don’t do supernatural but we also won’t tell you you’re wrong if you do.
    4. Is radically inclusive. Everyone is welcome, regardless of their beliefs – this is a place of love that is open and accepting.
    5. Is free to attend, not-for-profit and volunteer run. We ask for donations to cover our costs and support our community work.
    6. Has a community mission. Through our Action Heroes (you!), we will be a force for good.
    7. Is independent. We do not accept sponsorship or promote outside businesses, organizations or services
    8. Is here to stay. With your involvement, The Sunday Assembly will make the world a better place
    9. We won’t tell you how to live, but will try to help you do it as well as you can
    10. And remember point 1… The Sunday Assembly is a celebration of the one life we know we have

    sundayassemblyla@gmail.com

A huge special thanks to everyone who has joined us in this adventure so far. We'll be at it on the second Sunday of every month.
