February 10 - Sunday Assembly

For over a hundred years society has been living under the guise of the prosperity doctrine. Via the media, religion, politics and self-help gurus, we’ve been led to believe that wealth, success, and luxury would source our happiness. However, positive psychology and studies on longevity reveal that the key to a meaningful life is available to everyone regardless of economic status.

The empirical evidence and our common experience debunks this theory. There are 3 fundamentals that, if implemented, will result in a happier, more fulfilled life. Come hear from Peter Montoya, founder of ThriveUnion, how when we collectively shift from chasing wealth to chasing fulfillment, we will become a more peaceful, empathetic and content society.

Join us at 10:30 am, and at 11:00 we'll get started with great talks, live music and secular celebration. Stick around afterward for coffee and, if you'd like, lunch in the neighborhood.

Sunday Assembly is free of charge, and donations are gratefully accepted.

Everyone is welcome. Free childcare provided.

Street parking is free on most of the surrounding streets, and valet is usually available in the theatre lot for $7. Down the street, Spoonfed offers 1 hour of $1 parking with validation.

Sunday Assembly is a volunteer-driven non-profit entirely funded by attendee donations. If you'd like to see SALA continue to develop positive secular community, please consider becoming a sustaining member: sundayassemblyla.org/monthly

Peter is the Founder and Director of ThriveUnion, a real-world community and life-school dedicated to human well-being. The community meets weekly at ThriveSunday where they practice radical belonging and share lessons for living. The life-school provides educational video-essays and workshops geared to help people live better. Learn more at www.ThriveUnion.Org

We could always use more volunteer helpers, starting at 9:30am. to set up signs, greet attendees and load out after the event, let us know if you can be on the team this month!

Want to sing your heart out from the other side of the stage? The Wonder-more Warblers is a for-fun choir that meets at 10:30am on the day-of to run through the songs. Sometimes we even have a rehearsal with the band before the day! Sign up here to learn more.

There's a TON that goes into driving a thriving community--planning committees, event hosts, blog writers, social media posters, video editors and maybe something you're into that we haven't even thought of yet. If you'd like to be a part of the (figurative) magic of managing a science-based community, let us know!
