February 12th Sunday Assembly

As technologies are changing rapidly and the political landscape and cyber security regulations in the US and abroad are in constant flux, many are becoming more concerned worried what they say and do online and on their mobile devices are being watched. Hannah Howard, Digital Security Specialist will give an overview of how technologies leave us vulnerable, and offer some basic tools you can use to protect yourself and your loved ones.

Hannah Howard is a senior developer and tech generalist with over 15 years experience in programming and other technical fields. Prior to programming, Hannah worked for 10 years in the non-profit sector in Los Angeles, specializing in LGBT advocacy and community organizing. Hannah returned to coding in 2012, and brings her passion and experience from community organizing to helping new programmers get up to speed on technical topics.

For Valentine's Day, we'll be collecting donations straight from the heart, in the form of ... blood. The Cedar Sinai Bloodmobile will be onsite in the parking lot, with reception set up in the lobby, from 9am- 2:30pm. If you plan to donate blood, please consider arriving early (especially if you are also volunteering!), as it does take some time, and there is usually a rush just after the Assembly.

(We regret that FDA guidelines continue to uphold a non-evidence based policy that doesn’t allow all our members to donate, and we thank everyone who can or would like to donate life-saving blood.)

Join us to find your seat at 11 am, and at 11:10 am, on the dot, we will have great talks, live music and secular celebration. Stick around afterward for coffee and, if you're still game, lunch at the Oinkster across the street.

Sunday Assembly is free of charge, and donations are gratefully accepted.

Everyone is welcome. Free childcare provided.

Free parking is available in our onsite parking lot, and street parking is also free on Sundays.

* Please note that our website is no longer accepting plus-ones for RSVPs. We ask that all adults RSVP individually or sign in at the Assembly. This ensures that you and your party can stay together while signing in, and it helps us improve our statistical data so we can keep working to improve the Sunday Assembly community. Thank you for your understanding.
