Saturday Social: Griffith Observatory

Griffith Observatory

Let's join fellow Assemblers for a fun visit to the Griffith Observatory! Open since 1935, the Observatory is a unique hybrid of public observatory, planetarium, and exhibition space, and one of the most popular informal education facilities in the United States - and the most-visited public observatory in the world (with 1.5 million visitors a year).

We'll meet up near the entrance around 11:00, before going inside the Observatory and seeing the exhibits. Admission to the Observatory is FREE, but tickets to the planetarium shows cost $7 for adults, $5 for students with ID and seniors, and $3 for children between 5-12 years old (children under 5 are FREE if they sit on an adults lap). Parking near the Observatory is limited and costs $6 per hour. Visitors are encouraged to ride the low-cost DASH shuttle between the Observatory and Vermont/Sunset Red Line subway station (between 25-50¢ each way, with children under 4 free if they sit on an adults lap). See you there!
