Explore Deeper: mid-month small group discussion/sharing
Community is built on a solid foundation of relationships. In our busy lives, with hours spent in the bubble of our cars on the daily commute, hiding behind our computer screens, and sharing Tweets of 140 characters, it's challenging to create real, meaningful friendships, even with people who share our worldview.
Ripping off one of the more successful aspects of organized religion, Sunday Assembly-LA is responding to our members' desire for community by launching an experiment in semi-structured small group discussion. In a casual, intimate setting in our home, come get to know some of your fellow Assemblers as we explore the theme of the Jan. 12 Assembly more deeply. Come share your stories, experiences and viewpoints with others. Listen to others as they do the same. Hear and be heard and get the chance to know your neighbors in more than a "Hey, don't I know you from the monthly Sunday Assembly meeting?" kind of way. After a couple of hours of led discussion/sharing, we invite you to stay for refreshments, including adult beverages, and conversation.
Consider this a prototype for just one model of community-building. If it's a success (and you'll tell us if it is), we'll share the model with any Assemblers who would like to lead similar groups in their own neighborhoods. We can provide the materials and even come help you launch your first small group discussion in your home.
We are located 3 blocks west of the 405, 1 block north of Jefferson (the off-ramp from either direction), and there is plenty of street parking. Our big, friendly dog Buddha will greet you at the door.
