LA Kitchen - Food Prep

"Volunteers work alongside a team of L.A. Kitchen chefs, kitchen staff, and alumni or students from our Empower Program (a culinary job¬ training program for young men and women aging out of foster care and older men and women transitioning out of incarceration) to prepare reclaimed fruits and vegetables that will be transformed into nutritious meals and snacks for charitable partners that serve Los Angeles’ aging, low-income, and homeless populations.

Activities include cleaning, cutting, peeling, zesting, etc. a variety of donated produce from local farmers and wholesale companies. Volunteers learn and practice valuable knife skills and kitchen safety protocols under the direction of trained L.A. Kitchen culinary team members. No prior kitchen prep experience is necessary."

See www.lakitchen.org/volunteer for more information about their program.
