March 8th Sunday Assembly

Memory

"I remember it like it was yesterday." How often have you said those words? How well do we really remember yesterday? In the wake of recent high profile events like Ferguson, MO, how do we sort out conflicting eyewitness accounts of events? If they all saw the same thing, why don't they remember it the same way?

Dr. Craig Stark is a professor of neurobiology and behavior and a memory and learning researcher at the University of California, Irvine. Dr. Stark will share with us what he and his colleagues are learning about the way memory actually works (and how it's very different from the way the public thinks it does).

We'll also be welcoming back Kent Martin to lead the SALA choir (that's you).

Join us at 11am for great talks, live music and secular celebration. Stick around afterward for coffee and, if you're still game, lunch at the Oinkster across the street.

Sunday Assembly is free of charge, and donations are gratefully accepted.

Everyone is welcome. Professional childcare provided.

To kick off a longer-term food drive to help feed the working poor in our community, SALA is accepting nonperishable food donations on March 8th. Please consider bringing: canned foods, boxed pastas and lentils, nut butters, breakfast bars, infant formula, baby food and other nonperishables to help alleviate hunger in Los Angeles. (The food bank asks that you not donate glass, except baby food, and donated food not be expired.) Thank you!
