Skepticism isn't just about debunking Bigfoot hoaxes and getting your friends to stop taking homeopathics.  Critical thinking can be applied in every area of life.  One area where many people, even those who pride themselves on being rational, fall prey to their own emotions is personal finance.  Wouldn't it be great if we could learn to set aside the irrational beliefs that lead us to "buy high and sell low"?

We can.  Sunday Assembly Los Angeles and the Center for Inquiry are pleased to co-sponsor an evening with Phil Ferguson to look at his evidence-based approach to investing and wealth-building.  Phil has been an investment advisor representative since 1996 and is the president of Polaris Financial Planning LLC.  He is also the host of the Phil Ferguson Show, a podcast dedicated to skeptical investing and secular activism.

Join Phil at CFI for a look at some of the most common mistakes people make and the simple tools they can apply to become more critical and skeptical investors.  After his presentation, Phil will be fielding questions from the audience, so come prepared with your own financial questions.

Phil is also a long time activist in the secular movement. He has been on the board of The Secular Student Alliance and Atheist Alliance International. He now serves as the treasurer for the Reason Rally 2016 (which Sunday Assembly America and Polaris Financial are helping to sponsor).  He is an active member of many of the national organizations and has helped start three local groups. Phil has spoken at many conventions including TAM-The Amazing Meeting, Skepticon and Gateway to Reason.
