Sunday Social: The Autry Museum of the American West (December)

The Gene Autry statue outside the museum

Come join fellow Assemblers for a fun outing to the Autry Museum of the American West! Open since 1988, the Autry is dedicated to bringing together the stories of all peoples of the American West, connecting the past with the present to inspire our shared future. The Autry’s collection of more than 500,000 pieces of art and artifacts includes exhibits about the Western genre in various media, the history of cowboys and Western settlement, and the Southwest Museum of the American Indian Collection, one of the largest and most significant collections of Native American materials in the United States.

Note: For this meetup, please be sure to arrive before 11am! The museum will give us a guided tour of the main exhibits at that time.

We'll meet up inside of the museum lobby around 10:45am. We'll start a guided tour of the main exhibits at 11, after which we'll decide to either go to lunch at the museum cafe or see some of the special exhibits. Children have the option to "pan" for gold at an outside exhibit, and a Western Music Association Showcase will start at noon.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $6 for seniors and students (with ID), $4 for children ages 3-12, FREE for little ones 2 and under, and also FREE for active military personnel and veterans, peace officers, and park rangers (all with current ID). The museum has free parking on-site. See you there!
