Join fellow Assemblers with a visit to the California African American Museum in Exposition Park! First opening its doors during the 1984 Olympics, CAAM's mission is to research, collect, preserve, and interpret for public enrichment the history, art and culture of African Americans, with an emphasis on California and the western United States.

Current exhibits include "Black Righteous Space", a powerful multimedia experience on the black experience; "Smell The Roses", an exploration of intersecting identities; and "Politics, Race, and Propaganda: The Nazi Olympics, Berlin 1936", looking back at athletes who participated - or boycotted - the Olympics during the racist, fascist, anti-Semitic regime.

We'll meet at the entrance to the museum at 11am, socializing for a while before entering as a group at roughly 11:20 or whenever all the RSVPs arrive. Admission to the museum is FREE, and visitors can conveniently arrive using on-site parking ($12 cash-only) or the nearby Expo Line station (Expo Park/USC stop). Afterwards we can have lunch nearby and enjoy other features of Exposition Park. See you there!
