Garden Foundation - "Community Garden Days"
Sunday Assembly L.A. joins The Garden Foundation for their "Community Garden Days," again this month....and every month, during the school year!
The Garden School Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit that provides interactive garden-based education to under-served children across Los Angeles in their beautiful living classrooms. Since 2003, they've been turning asphalt into ecosystems, working to create a healthy, educated and aware future generation of children that care for their bodies and for the earth. Currently they're working at 5 Title1 schools and serving over 2,500 children with their Seed-to-Table programming, which includes the implementation of their patented Seed-to-Table curriculum, garden management, community outreach, garden events and after-school activities.
"Community Garden Days" are a wonderful opportunity to enjoy some fun in the sun, explore their gorgeous landmark 24th Street school garden and to learn more about food, from seed to table.
Typically, from 9-noon we work on their garden projects, which include: weeding, planting, building beds, harvesting and more. At around noon, we break for lunch, which includes healthy snacks. This is a great opportunity to further your child's education about sustainability and healthy nutrition.
What to bring: Water, snacks, closed-toed shoes, clothes you don't mind getting dirty, sun protection
NOTE: This is a wonderful "kid friendly" event you don't want to miss!
Please join Sunday Assembly L.A. in working with a remarkable organization in developing food wisdom and whole food appreciation in our little ones!
See you then!
