Cafe Inquiry: Screening: "The Perfect 46" with Writer/Director Q&A

Cafe Inquiry will host a free special showing of the feature film The Perfect 46 on Wednesday, May 28, at 8 p.m., followed by a Q&A with the film's writer/director,Brett Ryan Bonowicz.

The movie, currently in the midst of a film festival run, is a look at the personal, professional, and social consequences that arise when a geneticist creates a Web site that pairs an individual with an ideal genetic partner for children.

Brett Ryan Bonowicz"The Perfect 46 raises disturbing (and critical) questions about the seductive power of technology," comments local author and science writer K.C. Cole, "and features a main character who seems not just believable, but creepily familiar. It is a classic story with a present day twist: what happens when scientific knowledge and technical know-how outrun our limited human ability to predict consequences? Striving for perfection when we have so little idea of what ‘perfect' means can become the road to both societal and personal insanity."

Bonowicz, who lives in Los Angeles, has a production company, Clindar, that focuses on producing films based on cutting edge science and technology. The Web site is www.theperfect46.com.

Sorry, DVDs will not be available for sale at the screening.
