October 11th Sunday Assembly
Ron Placone, speaker, radio personality and comedian
Madness in the Message: Start Talking
How is a for-profit media affecting democracy, and what can we do about it? Speaker, radio personality and comedian Ron Placone joins us on October 11th to help us challenge the way “we the people” interact with news and the corporate media.
Since launching Madness in June of 2012, Ron has performed for colleges, advocacy groups, and enjoyed several sold-out theater shows. Ron hosts the syndicated radio show and podcast, Indie Bohemians, in Nashville, TN, is part of The Young Turks Network on YouTube, and tours the country as both a Media Policy Speaker and stand-up comedian. In his academic life, Ron’s been published in the Journal of Contemporary Rhetoric and occasionally serves as Adjunct Faculty at Nashville State Community College.
Paul Svenson, the fabulous songleader for Sunday Assembly San Diego, is our musical guest, and Gina Kirkland and Amy Boyle MC.
Join us at 11am for great talks, live music and secular celebration. Stick around afterward for coffee and, if you're still game, lunch at the Oinkster across the street.
Sunday Assembly is free of charge, and donations are gratefully accepted.
Everyone is welcome. Free childcare provided.
* Please note that our website is no longer accepting plus-ones for RSVPs. We ask that all adults RSVP individually or sign in at the Assembly. This ensures that you and your party can stay together while signing in, and it helps us improve our statistical data so we can keep working to improve the Sunday Assembly community. Thank you for your understanding.
