"Building Community from the Ground Up": the SALA story

The Unitarian church in Studio City has invited Sunday Assembly Los Angeles organizer Ian Dodd to speak to the their congregation as part of the regular Sunday service.  His talk is (tentatively) called "Building Community from the Ground Up", and he will be sharing the story of Sunday Assembly LA and the lessons he has learned about what it means to start from ground zero and create a community of shared values and vision.  How has Sunday Assembly grown from an idea by two comedians to over 70 Assemblies worldwide in less than 3 years, and how did we in Los Angeles grow the largest and most dynamic Assembly in the US in 2 years?  And what does the emergence of 'godless congregations' mean to a liberal religious denomination that struggles to remain relevant in the face of the "rise of the nones"?

Any and all members of SALA are welcome to attend and then gather for lunch afterwards at Lala's Argentinian Grill in Studio City. Please RSVP for lunch so that we can reserve a table large enough for everyone. See you there!
